The Commercial Awareness Programme
The Leicester University Law Society’s Commercial Awareness Programme (LULS CAP) aims to demystify the concept of commercial awareness, making it more accessible and approachable for students to actively engage with. Whether you are a student from a law or non-law background, commercial awareness is a crucial skill which recruiters from a wide range of industries actively look for. The programme helps students build confidence in their ability to understand, develop, and apply their commercial awareness through their journeys into modern professions.
LULS CAP aims to help students prepare for going into the modern business world and navigating their future careers.

The Commercial Awareness Blog gives students a platform to explore and write about the current commercial climate. Situated at the intersection of economics, law and finance, it offers Members a chance to showcase writing skills beyond the curriculum. Contributions complement academic studies while remaining flexible and non-committal.
The Programme Structure
At the start of the programme, we will be introducing commercial awareness to students through interactive workshops to build their knowledge and understanding of the commercial landscape.
Workshops
The programme will also encourage students to develop their commercial skills on a practical level, harnessing innovation, critical thinking, and problem solving. Students will be able to showcase and test their knowledge and skills through the webinars where they will have the opportunity to practice analysing articles, case studies, and commercial insights.
Webinars
The Commercial Case Study Competition will aim to simulate an assessment centre style experience to help students feel more prepared in demonstrating their commercial awareness in future applications. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a team-based exercise, testing their ability to identify commercial risks and opportunities, and using a future-thinking approach to navigate solutions.
The Commercial Awareness Competition will give students the opportunity to assess and reflect on their knowledge and understanding of the business world. The competition will consist of multiple rounds to test their commercial acumen in a variety of ways, showcasing knowledge, understanding, and critical analysis.
